Sanju Samson Became the Fastest Indian to smash 200 Sixes in the IPL

Sanju Samson rewrote the record books on Tuesday, becoming an IPL history-maker.  He smashed his way to the fastest 200 sixes by an Indian batsman, leaving MS Dhoni‘s record in the dust.

This blistering achievement unfolded during the Rajasthan Royals‘ clash against the Delhi Capitals.  Chasing a daunting 222 runs, Samson didn’t hold back.  He unleashed a powerful innings, reaching his fifth 50+ score of the season and propelling the Royals towards victory.

This consistency has propelled him to the number three spot in the IPL 2024 leading run-scorers list, only behind Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The key moment arrived when he needed just six balls to reach the coveted 200-six mark.  This milestone not only cemented his place among the league’s elite power hitters but also placed him alongside legends like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and David Warner.

MS Dhoni – 165

Virat Kohli – 180

Rohit Sharma – 185

Suresh Raina – 193

Riding a wave of confidence after his recent selection for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Samson has displayed exceptional leadership since taking over the RR captaincy from Steve Smith in 2020.  His aggressive batting and consistent run-scoring have become a hallmark of his captaincy.

This record surpasses MS Dhoni’s mark in both speed and efficiency. Samson achieved the feat in 159 innings and 3081 balls, showcasing his explosive talent.  He now sits as the third fastest player overall, only behind the legendary Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.
