This dominant win not only boosted India’s chances in the tournament but also surpassed their previous best margin of 79 runs, set against Bangladesh in 2014.
This victory by 82 runs broke India’s previous record of a 79-run win against Bangladesh in 2014. It also propelled India to second place in the points table, significantly improving their net run rate. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, became the second team, after Scotland, to be eliminated from the tournament.
