This phenomenal performance propelled him two spots in the rankings, making him the first Indian to ever claim the top spot for T20I all-rounders.

The final match was a defining moment for Pandya. With South Africa in a strong position, his crucial wicket of Heinrich Klaasen swung the momentum in India’s favor. He then went on to bowl a nerve-wracking final over, defending a challenging 16 runs and securing the World Cup title for India.

Pandya’s rise wasn’t the only positive change for the Indian team. Axar Patel, whose knock in the final was instrumental in India’s victory, jumped seven spots to reach number 12 in the rankings. Jasprit Bumrah, the Player of the Tournament with 15 wickets, also saw a significant climb, moving up 12 spots to his highest ranking since 2020.

The rankings also saw movement from other bowlers. Anrich Nortje, South Africa’s pace spearhead, achieved his career-best ranking of number two, while Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh entered the top ten, climbing to number nine and thirteen respectively.
