Fastest Hundreds to Light Up the IPL!

The IPL is known for its fast-paced action and dramatic finishes. T20 cricket is all about quick runs, and some batters can single-handedly change a game in the blink of an eye. Imagine someone scoring 100 runs in just a few overs – that’s what we call a century, and in the IPL, some players have achieved this feat at record speed!

With the 17th season about to start on March 22, 2024, get ready for amazing sixes, incredible boundaries, and lightning-fast centuries that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Here’s a look at the players who hold the record for the fastest centuries in IPL history:

Chris Gayle (30 balls)

Chris Gayle, also known as the “Universe Boss,” holds the record for the fastest IPL century ever. In 2013, while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he smashed a mind-blowing 175 runs in just 30 balls against Pune Warriors. It was an unforgettable innings with 17 sixes and 13 fours! Thanks to Gayle’s incredible knock, RCB put up a massive score and easily won the match.

Yusuf Pathan (37 balls)

Yusuf Pathan is the king of the fastest century among Indian players. Back in 2010, playing for Rajasthan Royals, he scored a century in just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians! They were chasing a big target, but unfortunately, Pathan got out before they could win. It was a close call, but they fell short by just 4 runs.

David Miller (38 balls)

David Miller’s century in 2013 against Royal Challengers Bangalore is another one for the history books. RCB set a target of 191 runs, and things were looking good for them initially. But Miller had other plans! He played a fantastic innings, scoring 101 runs in just 38 balls to help his team, Punjab Kings, chase down the target with 6 wickets and 2 overs to spare!

Adam Gilchrist (42 balls)

Even in the first season of the IPL back in 2008, players were setting records. Adam Gilchrist, playing for Deccan Chargers, chased down a target of 155 runs against Mumbai Indians in just 12 overs! He achieved this feat with a blistering 42-ball century, leading his team to a comfortable 10-wicket win.

AB de Villiers & David Warner (43 balls)

These two international superstars share the fifth spot for the fastest IPL centuries. Both AB de Villiers and David Warner scored centuries in just 43 balls. De Villiers’ knock came in 2016 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Warner achieved it in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The IPL is all about excitement, and these record-breaking centuries are a big part of what makes it so thrilling. As the new season approaches, we can expect even more amazing batting displays and, hopefully, some new names on this fastest-century list!
