Abhishek Sharma Slams Maiden T20I Century of 47 Balls

The second T20I match between India and Zimbabwe was a night to remember for young Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma. In just his second appearance for India in this format, Sharma unleashed an explosive knock, scoring a blistering century in a mere 47 balls. This phenomenal innings not only propelled India to a dominant 234-run total but also saw Sharma etch his name in the record books.

Sharma’s century ranks as the third fastest for India in T20 internationals. This elite company includes legendary batsmen like Rohit Sharma (35 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (45 balls).

This match marked Sharma’s first ever century in T20 internationals. He reached his fifty in a quickfire 33 balls, but it was the second half of his innings that was truly breathtaking. He smashed his way from 50 to 100 in just 13 deliveries, including three consecutive sixes to reach the coveted three-figure mark.

Sharma’s performance was even more remarkable considering his forgettable debut, where he was dismissed for a duck. Bouncing back from such a low point to score a century the very next match showcases Sharma’s mental strength and exceptional talent.

Sharma’s knock was a masterclass in clean hitting. He launched a staggering eight sixes and seven boundaries during his innings, showcasing his ability to dominate the bowling attack and keep the scoreboard ticking over at a rapid pace.

While Sharma stole the show with his batting heroics, credit must also be given to his fellow batsmen. Ruturaj Gaikwad provided valuable support with a well-compiled 77 not out, and Rinku Singh’s handy 48 runs further bolstered India’s total.

Sharma’s record-breaking century is a sign of exciting things to come for Indian cricket. His ability to score quickly, handle pressure, and clear the boundaries with ease makes him a valuable asset to the team. With continued dedication and focus, Sharma has the potential to become a permanent fixture in the Indian batting line-up for years to come.
