These wicketkeepers combine sharp reflexes behind the stumps with quick catches to put pressure on the opposing team. Let’s look at the top wicketkeepers based on the total number of dismissals they’ve achieved in the tournament’s history:

MS Dhoni (India) (32 Dismissals)

Leading the pack is the legendary MS Dhoni from India. Nicknamed ‘Captain Cool,’ Dhoni holds the record for the most dismissals (32) across his T20 World Cup career, spanning from 2007 to 2016.  His skills shine with both catches (21) and impressive stumpings (11). Dhoni’s best performance saw him make 4 dismissals in a single innings.

Kamran Akmal (Pakistan) (30 Dismissals)

Following closely behind is Kamran Akmal of Pakistan, with a total of 30 dismissals in his T20 World Cup appearances between 2007 and 2014. While he has fewer catches (12) compared to Dhoni, Akmal is known for his exceptional stumping skills,  having achieved a staggering 18 stumpings throughout the tournaments.

Denesh Ramdin (West Indies) (27 Dismissals)

West Indies’ Denesh Ramdin takes the third spot with 27 dismissals across his T20 World Cup matches from 2007 to 2016. Ramdin primarily relies on his catching prowess, having grabbed 18 catches  compared to his 9 stumpings.

South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, a relatively new name on this list, has already made a mark with 22 dismissals  in the T20 World Cup, playing from 2014 to 2022.  While his T20 World Cup career is shorter than the others, his impressive average of 1.2 dismissals per innings highlights his wicketkeeping talent.

These wicketkeepers have not only contributed significantly to their teams’ success but have also raised the bar for wicketkeeping in T20 cricket. The upcoming T20 World Cup promises to see exciting battles behind the stumps, with new talents emerging and established players looking to add to their impressive records.
