IPL 2024: Teams with the Most Matches in the Tournament

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has become a cricket extravaganza, captivating fans worldwide. Since its inception, several franchises have carved a special place in fans’ hearts.  Here’s a look at the top 5 teams with the most matches played in IPL history:

1. Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians, led by the charismatic Rohit Sharma, reigns supreme with a staggering 250 matches under their belt. This milestone was achieved during their match against the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing 2024 season. Interestingly, they’re also the joint-most successful team in the IPL, sharing the title crown with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) five times.

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Following closely behind are the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 245 matches played. Virat Kohli’s team, despite being a part of the IPL since its 2008 launch, is yet to clinch the coveted trophy. Their journey has seen them reach the finals thrice, but victory has eluded them.

3. Delhi Capitals (DC)

Delhi Capitals, captained by the explosive Rishabh Pant, hold the third spot with 241 matches played in the IPL. Similar to RCB, they are yet to experience the joy of lifting the IPL trophy.

4. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) come in at number four with 239 matches played. Unlike DC and RCB, KKR has tasted championship glory twice, winning the IPL in 2012 and 2014.

5. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Rounding out the top 5 are the Punjab Kings (PBKS) with 235 matches. Under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan, they are determined to rewrite their story in the 2024 season, aiming to secure their first-ever IPL title.

These teams have not only entertained fans with top-notch cricket but have also become iconic brands. The IPL wouldn’t be the same without their passionate fan bases and rich histories. As the tournament progresses, it’ll be interesting to see if any teams can climb the ranks or if MI can further solidify their position as the most experienced team in IPL history.
