Players To Hit First Ball of Their IPL Career for Six

The pressure of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is immense. It’s a stage where the best cricketers from around the world battle it out for glory.  Imagine walking out for the very first time in this high-octane environment, facing a world-class bowler, and then… You smash the very first ball for a towering six! Here, we celebrate a select group of players who entered the IPL with a bang, literally!

Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Andre Russell, the West Indian all-rounder, needs no introduction. A fearsome fast bowler and a devastating batsman, he’s a fan favorite in India, especially for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).  What many might not remember is that Russell announced his IPL arrival in style. On the very first ball of his IPL career, he sent the bowler packing for a six, setting the tone for his reputation as a dangerous batsman.

Kevon Cooper (Rajasthan Royals)

Another West Indian all-rounder, Kevon Cooper, might not be as widely known as Russell, but his IPL debut was equally memorable. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Cooper faced the Punjab Kings and wasted no time in making his mark. With nerves of steel, he dispatched the first ball he received soaring over the boundary rope for a six.

Maheesh Theekshana (Chennai Super Kings)

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana surprised everyone with his exploits not just with the ball, but also with the bat for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While Theekshana is known for his deceptive bowling, he showcased his talent by launching the first ball of his IPL career for a six. This unexpected feat displayed his well-rounded cricketing skills.

Sameer Rizvi (Chennai Super Kings)

Sameer Rizvi, a highly talented Indian player, was a big buy for CSK in the 2024 IPL auction. The pressure was on, but Rizvi showed his composure when he came out to bat in the 19th over against the Gujarat Titans.  Facing the legendary spinner Rashid Khan, Rizvi didn’t hesitate. He connected cleanly with the first ball of his IPL career, sending it sailing over the ropes for a six, much to the delight of the CSK fans.

These players not only showcased their power hitting, but also their nerves of steel.  Hitting a six off the first ball in the IPL requires immense confidence and skill.  These IPL debutants did just that, etching their names in the record books and announcing themselves as exciting talents to watch in the years to come.
