AB de Villiers – Mr. 360° (25 Awards)

The undisputed king of Player of the Match awards is AB de Villiers. Arguably one of the greatest players to grace, the RCB maestro has won a record 25 awards. Known for his 360-degree shot-making, he has amassed 5162 runs in 184 innings with an incredible strike rate of 151.68, making him a nightmare for bowlers.

 

Chris Gayle – The Universe Boss (22 Awards)

Gayle, a legend of T20 cricket, became a consistent force with RCB and KXIP. His explosive batting has earned him the nickname “Universe Boss” and a staggering 22 Player of the Match awards.  He holds the record for second-most centuries (6) in the IPL. Establishing himself as the greatest ever T20 cricketer with consistent performance over the years, it is a rarity for a team to lose the match if Gayle scores big for them in a particular inning. He has 4965 runs to his name in the IPL at an impressive strike rate of 148.96.

 

Rohit Sharma – Hitman (19 Awards)

The former Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma, boasts the most Player of the Match awards among Indian players (19) and is third overall.  Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians clinched a record five IPL titles.  His impactful batting often takes the game away from the opposition. The prolific batsman has accumulated 5880 runs in the cash-rich league at an average of 30.15 and strike rate of 139.63.

 

David Warner – (18 Awards)

Warner, the explosive opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capital.  His aggressive batting has earned him 18 Player of the Match awards. In total, Warner has made 6090 runs at a strike rate of 140.92 and an average of 42.23.

 

MS Dhoni – Thala (17 Awards)

Dhoni, also nicknamed ‘Captian Cool’ and ‘Thala’, has captained Chennai Super Kings to five IPL titles. His ability to finish close matches and experience gathered from all the matches played in different formats make him a true IPL champion. Dhoni has played the most games (220) in IPL and has scored 4746 runs at an average of 39.55 and a strike rate of 135.83.
