IPL Completes 12,000 Sixes

The ever-exciting IPL keeps adding milestones to its name! The tournament recently witnessed its 12,000th six during a thrilling match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

This massive six was struck by Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.  It came at a crucial moment for DC, after they lost their openers early.  Marsh’s six over deep square leg against CSK speedster Deepak Chahar, not only boosted the team’s score but also marked a special moment in IPL history.

In match number 13 of the IPL 2024 in Vizag, after the sudden dismissals of their well-set openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw, Marsh’s brutal helped DC make way over the falling run-rate and get back on track. Batting at no. 4 Marsh joined Rishabh Pant, cautiously making only 8 runs in the first 8 balls. It was in the 14th over when Marsh sent the ball by Deepak Chahar flying for a much-needed six, marking the six number 12000 of the IPL.

Rishabh Pant, the DC captain, also joined the party by adding a few more sixes to the IPL’s ever-growing tally.  His quickfire knock of 51 runs in 32 balls included three maximums, helping DC reach a competitive total of 191 runs.

Opener David Warner also chipped in with three sixes during his 52-run knock, showcasing the kind of batting fireworks that have made the IPL a global phenomenon.

With every big hit that soars over the boundary, the IPL continues to entertain audiences worldwide. Here’s to many more sixes and exciting moments in the seasons to come! The IPL has become synonymous with big-hitting batsmen, pressure situations, and nail-biting finishes, and the 12,000th six is a perfect reminder of the high-octane entertainment this league provides.

The future promises even more audacious strokeplay and record-breaking sixes, making the IPL a must-watch event for cricket fans everywhere.
