The wait is finally over for Chennai cricket fans! The IPL final is returning to the Chepauk stadium on May 26th, 2024, after a 12-year absence. The MA Chidambaram Stadium, or the Chepauk, has hosted two previous IPL finals, in 2011 and 2012. Imagine the roar of the crowd!
But the excitement starts even earlier – Chepauk will also host the second qualifier on May 24th. The playoff action will kick off a few days before in Ahmedabad, with the first qualifier on May 21st followed by the eliminator on May 22nd.
IPL will return in full force with its second part on April 8th including 52 matches (including Playoffs), when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk. In total, the IPL 2024 will feature 11 double-header days, two of which took place on the opening weekend, promising a continuous stream of cricketing action for fans.
The choice of centers for the playoffs – Ahmedabad and Chennai, with CSK and GT being last year’s finalists, their home venues have been chosen for the playoffs with the city of the champions, Chennai, hosting the final. It also hosted the inaugural match of the season.
On February 22, the IPL had released a partial schedule of an initial set of 21 matches from March 22 to April 7. A complete schedule could not be put out since, at the time, as the IPL was waiting for the Election Commission of India to announce the dates for India’s general elections, which have since been made public.
So, cricket fans, mark your calendars, get your jerseys ready, and prepare to cheer on your favorite teams. The IPL season promises to be epic, culminating in a grand finale at the historic Chepauk stadium. May the best team win!
